This is the type of aircraft we flew from Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina with first stop at Lajes Field in the Azores Islands. I'm told this is a somewhat earlier version of the MATS paint job than was used in late 1957. This image is from Air Classics magazine and was shown to me by an air force friend when I could not find any image of this aircraft in USAF Military Air Transport Service colors on the world wide web - only the image of President Eisenhower's "Columbine" was available and even thought I had walked through it at the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, it didn't seem right to use it. :) I am grateful that Air Classics magazine published this picture.
